purp Child Safety Standards
Our commitment
purp is a place for people to make new friends. Keeping children and teenagers safe is our highest priority. purp has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) in any form. Anyone who uses purp to harm, exploit, or sexualize a minor will be permanently removed from the platform and, where required or permitted by law, reported to the competent authorities.
These Child Safety Standards form part of our Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. Every user must accept them to use purp.
What we prohibit
purp strictly prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE). This includes, without limitation:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM): creating, uploading, sharing, requesting, linking to, or storing any image, video, drawing, text or other content that depicts or describes a minor (anyone under 18) in a sexual manner, including computer-generated or AI-generated content.
- Sexualization of minors: any content, comment, profile, or message that portrays a minor in a sexually suggestive way, or expresses sexual interest in minors.
- Grooming: building a relationship with a minor with the intent to sexually abuse, exploit, or manipulate them, including asking a minor for sexual content, sending sexual content to a minor, or attempting to move a minor to another platform for these purposes.
- Sextortion: threatening or blackmailing a minor to obtain sexual content, money, or other benefits.
- Trafficking and solicitation: advertising, soliciting, or facilitating sexual contact with a minor, or arranging to meet a minor for a sexual purpose.
- Adults contacting minors for sexual purposes or adults misrepresenting their age to gain access to minors.
- Any other conduct that endangers the sexual safety of a child, including sharing instructions, links, or coded language related to CSAE.
Content or behaviour that violates these standards is prohibited regardless of intent, including "jokes", satire, or content shared to condemn it.
Who can use purp
- Users must be at least 13 years old to create a purp account.
- Parents and guardians with questions or concerns about a teenager's account can contact us at parents@purp-app.net.
- Users must provide their real date of birth. Once set, the date of birth cannot be changed.
- Teenagers (13 to 17) and adults (18 and over) are kept in separate communities: adults cannot see or contact teenagers and vice versa. This separation is enabled by default and cannot be turned off.
- purp does not request or display precise location. Users only select their country.
- Accounts identified as belonging to a child under 13, or to an adult misrepresenting their age, are terminated.
How we enforce these standards
- Automated detection: images, videos and text uploaded to purp are analysed by automated classification tools to detect content that may be inappropriate or may involve minors. Content identified as violating these standards is removed and the responsible account is actioned.
- Human review: reports and cases raised to our specialist queues, including all reports relating to child safety, are reviewed by our trust and safety team.
- Removal and termination: content that violates these standards is removed and the responsible account is permanently terminated. We may also terminate related or duplicate accounts.
- Reporting to authorities: when we become aware of apparent CSAM or child sexual exploitation, we remove it, preserve the relevant account data, and report it to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and/or the competent national authorities, as required or permitted by applicable law.
- Law enforcement cooperation: we respond to valid legal requests from law enforcement. See the Law Enforcement section of our Safety page or write to lawenforcement@purp-app.net.
